1. China's pesticide exports in 2019
(1) Export value of various types of pesticides
In 2019, the total export value of the five pesticide categories of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides and plant growth regulators was 10.225 billion US dollars, an increase of 5.02% year-on-year. Among them, the export value of herbicides was US$5.086 billion, accounting for 50% of the total export value, and it was firmly seated as the largest pesticide category in export value, followed by pesticides US$3.431 billion and fungicides US$1.483 billion. Compared with 2018, the export value of herbicides decreased slightly, while the export value of pesticides and fungicides increased.

(2) Exports more technical, and imports more formulations
The export value of pesticide technical materials in 2019 was US$6.217 billion, an increase of 8.17% year-on-year; the export value of formulations was US$4.008 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.47%; the import value of pesticide technical in 2019 was US$187 million, a year-on-year increase of 12.23%; the import value of formulations was 469 million US dollars, an increase of 13.60% year-on-year.

The two main continents of China's pesticide exports in 2019 are Asia and Latin America, accounting for 61.27% of China's total pesticide exports. Latin America's export value increased by 21.67% year-on-year, the largest increase, followed by Europe and Asia, with year-on-year growth of 16.07% and 4.71% respectively; North America and Africa both declined.

(4) Export situation of major exporting countries
In 2019, the major export countries of China’s pesticides were Brazil (US$1.520 billion), the United States (US$1.374 billion), India (US$805 million), Argentina (US$428 million), and Vietnam (US$341 million). In 2019, Brazil surpassed The United States, has become the largest target market for China's pesticide exports. The value of exports to Brazil was US$1.520 billion, a year-on-year increase of 32.16%; Nigeria’s exports were US$246 million, a year-on-year increase of 28.15%, while exports to the United States decreased by 15.51% year-on-year. At the same time, exports of Australia, Thailand, and Vietnam decline.

In 2019, the main export products were glyphosate (US$1.327 billion), paraquat (US$414 million), imidacloprid (US$359 million), clethodim (US$293 million), and chlorothalonil (US$291 million); Among the main export varieties, chlorothalonil and clethodim had the largest increase, increasing by 41.58% and 41.94% respectively.

2. China's pesticide exports from January to November 2020
From January to November 2020, the volume and value of pesticide imports and exports both increased. Among them, the increase in pesticide exports in the first 11 months of 2020 was higher than the annual increase in 2019. Affected by the epidemic and the Spring Festival holiday, China's pesticide exports fell sharply in February alone, and then exports grew strongly in March, April, May, and June. In July, August, and September, the growth rate gradually declined, and October and November increased significantly.
